Does KCTCS award credit for prior learning training or industry certifications?

Yes, we do. This includes military training and learning from courses while on active duty. As well as any coursework taken at educational institutions even if the coursework was not paid for with VA benefits.

A student may receive course credit in recognition of collegiate level credit completed through national exams like Advanced Placement (AP), CLEP, and DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Tests). To receive course credit for successful exams, the student must have received a minimum standard. Credit will be given only upon receipt of an official score report or transcript. To view exams, course equivalents and minimum scores needed, visit the Credit for Prior Learning page.

A student may receive course credit for formal military training as recommendations, published by the American Council on Education at the Military Evaluations website. Ultimately, credit awarding and course equivalency are the decisions of the faculty subject matter expert unless there is an already determined set of equivalencies system-wide for specific MOS's.
