How and when do I register for a course?

When does registration begin?

  • Spring Registration Begins: October 1
  • Summer and Fall Registration Begins: March 1

How can I view available classes?

A complete list of courses offered is available on the KCTCS Visual Schedule Builder. For course descriptions or program requirements, you may view the KCTCS Catalog online. You may also reach out to your advisor or home college Advising Center. Advisors can provide information about courses that may not be available at that college.

I am a current student; can I register myself or add a course online?

You may view available classes and enroll only if you have self-enroll permission. Directions to enroll can be found on the Class Search and Enroll guide.

If you do not have self-enroll permission, you will receive an error that states “You do not have access to enrollment at this time.” and will need to reach out to your assigned advisor for assistance. Advisor contact information is available on your Student Self-Service in MyPath under the Manage Classes tile.

Non-Degree or Visiting students:

  • Non-Degree Seeking and Visiting Students do not have to meet with an Academic Advisor before registering for classes.
    • However, students need Unofficial Transcripts for Prerequisites.
  • Students will receive their KCTCS Student ID number in the acceptance letter along with instructions on activating their student account and registering for classes.
    • If you are registering for a course with a prerequisite, you must provide proof of meeting the prerequisite from your transfer or home institution to the BCTC Records Office (Example: transcripts, grades or test scores). This information can be faxed to the Student Records Office at (859) 246-4666 or emailed to bluegrass.records@kctcs.edu.
    • If you are attempting to register for English or Math you must meet the placement requirements. Course prerequisite and mandatory placement information is located in the BCTC Catalog located online at the Course Enrollment Request page.
