Academic Probation, Suspension, and Reinstatement
Academic Probation
- Students are placed on academic probation if their cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 at the end of a term.
- To be removed from probation, a student must raise their cumulative GPA to at least 2.0.
Academic Suspension
- A student on probation for two consecutive terms (noted on the transcript as “subject to dismissal” during the second term) may be academically suspended if they do not achieve either:
- A term GPA of 2.0, or
- A cumulative GPA of 2.0 in the third term
- Non-enrollment does not reset or affect probation status.
- In certain cases, the president or designee may grant an exception based on individual circumstances.
Reinstatement After Suspension
First Suspension
- Students may apply for reinstatement after:
- Remaining out of college for at least one 16-week semester, and
- Providing evidence of ability to succeed academically
- Upon return:
- The student is placed on Academic Probation II
- Failure to earn a term GPA of at least 2.0 may result in a second suspension
Second Suspension
- Students may apply for reinstatement after:
- Remaining out of college for at least two 16-week semesters, and
- Providing evidence of academic readiness
- Reinstatement is granted by the president or designee.
