Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program (College Students)

The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship (WRKS) helps cover the cost of tuition for students enrolled in eligible career-focused programs at Gateway Community and Technical College.

Program Overview

The scholarship applies to programs in high-demand fields, including:

  • Construction
  • Healthcare
  • Manufacturing and Logistics
  • Professional, Scientific, and Technical Studies

It covers programs leading to:

  • Certificates
  • Diplomas
  • Associate in Applied Science degrees

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Submit a FAFSA
  • Meet all additional eligibility requirements outlined by KHEAA
  • Be enrolled in an eligible program of study

Award Amount

The WRKS award is calculated based on your remaining tuition costs:

  • Covers the remaining tuition and fees after:
    • Federal grants
    • State grants
    • Scholarships

Limits

  • The award cannot exceed:
    • The in-state tuition and fee rate at Gateway Community and Technical College
  • Fees covered are limited to:
    • Up to $400 per year

Refund Policy

  • WRKS funds are applied only to your balance
  • The award will not exceed your total charges
  • No refunds are issued from this scholarship

Application Process

  • The application opens on May 1
  • Remains open until funding is exhausted
  • Apply by logging into your KHEAA  account
