Do I have to have my international transcripts translated and/or evaluated?

International Transcript Translation and Evaluation

If you are submitting international transcripts to Gateway for transfer credit, additional steps are required. Review the guidelines below carefully.

Evaluation Requirement

Gateway does not evaluate foreign transcripts for transfer credit.

  • You must have your transcripts:
    • Translated (if not in English)
    • Evaluated by a NACES member agency of your choice
  • Gateway relies on private academic credentialing agencies to complete evaluations.
  • A fee is typically charged by the evaluation agency.

Required Evaluation Type

To be considered for transfer credit:

  • Transcripts must include a course-by-course evaluation.
  • The following will not be accepted:
    • Document-by-document evaluations
    • General credential evaluations without course-level detail

Submission Instructions

After completing your evaluation:

  • Instruct the agency to send an official report directly to Gateway’s Admissions Office.
  • Electronic delivery is also accepted when sent through the evaluator’s official online portal.

Important Note

  • Gateway accepts evaluated international transcripts for transfer credit purposes only.
  • However, Gateway does not accept international students.
