I only want to take classes to transfer to my home college. Do I have to apply Visiting Student?

Taking Classes at Gateway as a Visiting Student

You can take classes at Gateway while enrolled at another college by applying as a visiting student.

What is a Visiting Student?

A visiting student is someone who:

  • Is currently enrolled at another college or university
  • Wants to take classes at Gateway Community and Technical College without transferring schools

How It Works

As a visiting student, you can:

  • Enroll in one or two courses at Gateway
  • Continue your studies at your home institution

This option allows you to complete specific coursework while remaining enrolled at your primary college.

Who Should Consider This Option?

Becoming a visiting student may be a good option if you:

  • Need to complete a course not offered at your home institution
  • Want to stay on track with your academic plan
  • Prefer not to transfer schools
