Do I have to have my international transcripts translated and/or evaluated?

International Transcript Translation and Evaluation Requirements

KCTCS colleges do not evaluate foreign transcripts for transfer credit. Students who wish to receive transfer credit for coursework completed outside the United States must have their transcripts translated and evaluated by a NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member agency.

Because KCTCS relies on private credential evaluation agencies, students are responsible for any costs associated with the evaluation process.

College Transcript Requirements

International college transcripts must:

  • Be translated into English, if applicable.
  • Be evaluated by a NACES member agency.
  • Include a course-by-course evaluation.

Evaluations That Are Not Accepted

The following will not be accepted for transfer credit purposes:

  • Document-by-document evaluations
  • Credential evaluations that do not include a course-by-course evaluation

High School Transcript Requirements

International high school transcripts do not need to be evaluated for admission purposes.

If you have questions about your specific situation, assistance is available through the Jefferson International Admissions Officer/PDSO.

Submitting Evaluation Reports

Once the evaluation is complete, instruct the evaluation agency to send an official report directly to the college's Admissions Office or designated International Admissions Officer.

Students should also ensure that the official evaluation report is emailed to the Admissions Officer when possible.

Some KCTCS colleges may accept official electronic delivery through the evaluator's secure online portal.

Important Note

Although KCTCS colleges accept translated and evaluated international transcripts for transfer credit purposes, not all KCTCS colleges accept international students.
