How and when do I register for a course?

When does registration begin?

  • Spring Registration Begins: October 1
  • Summer and Fall Registration Begins: March 1

Additional registration dates can be found on Academic Calendar.

How can I view available classes?

A complete list of courses offered is available on the KCTCS Visual Schedule Builder. For course descriptions or program requirements, you may view the KCTCS Catalog online. You may also reach out to your advisor or the Welcome to the Academic Advising Center. Advisors can provide information about courses that may not be available at that college.

I am a current student; can I register myself or add a course online?

You may view available classes and enroll only if you have self-enroll permission. Directions to enroll can be found on the Class Search and Enroll guide.

If you do not have self-enroll permission, you will receive an error that states “You do not have access to enrollment at this time.” and will need to reach out to your assigned advisor for assistance. Advisor contact information is available on your Student Self-Service in MyPath under the Manage Classes tile.

Visiting students:

Visiting students are required to speak with an advisor prior to registering.

Additional Registration Information for JCTC Students

All students must register for classes BEFORE the start date of the class. Enrollment the day class begins will not be allowed.

First-Time College Student - Students that are ready to enroll will be sent information to sign up for registration and advising. Students may complete the online Orientation modules to learn more about Jefferson. For any questions regarding Jefferson resources and processes, please visit the New Student FAQs page.

Returning, Transfer, Visiting, and Non-Degree Students - Self-service access will be granted when the student’s Admission file is completed.  Students will receive an email notification when this occurs which also explains registration options.

Registration options for students with a completed Admission file:

• Online registration through Student Self-Service.
• In-person registration can be completed in the Records Office during normal hours of operation or in the Advising Center on any campus.
• Registration through email can be completed through the Records Office email account. Send an email to JF-Records-Office@kctcs.edu from a .edu account that includes KCTCS student ID# and all class information. Unofficial transcripts should be attached to the email if proof of meeting pre-requisites is required.
• In-person open advising is available on all campuses on certain dates. Dates and times for each campus can be found on the Advising Center website.

Current Jefferson Students:

• Students who are enrolled but have an ADM hold will need to contact the Admission’s Office at jefferson-admissions@kctcs.edu to resolve their hold before they can register. Emailed requests must be sent from your KCTCS email account and include your student ID number.
• Currently enrolled students with no ADM holds will need to work with their advisor or the Advising Center to register.

• If student is not able to reach advisor to get registration assistance, they can contact the Record’s Office at JF-Records-Office@kctcs.edu. Emailed requests must include your student ID number.

• If the student does not have a KCTCS email account and they can email the JF-Records-Office@kctcs.edu from ANY .edu account. If they do not have an active .edu account and self-service isn’t an option, the student is required to come to campus.
