Financial Aid Disbursements, Refunds, Bookstore Charges, and Important Dates
Understanding Financial Aid Disbursement
Disbursement is the process in which the college verifies your class attendance, receives your financial aid funds from federal, state, or foundation sources, and applies those funds to your student account balance.
Financial aid funds are typically received by the college 4–6 weeks after the semester begins or after your classes start if you are enrolled in late-starting courses. Once funds are received, they are generally applied to your account within 2 days.

Disbursements
KEES Disbursement
KEES funds are typically disbursed on the second regular disbursement date of the term and continue on a weekly basis for eligible students.
Please note that KEES awards are only available for Fall and Spring terms and cannot be used during Summer sessions.
Pell Grant Disbursement
Students enrolled in courses that begin later in the term may receive an additional Pell Grant disbursement for those courses.
Before funds can be disbursed:
- Enrollment must be confirmed.
- Financial aid awards must be adjusted based on enrollment.
Student Loan Disbursement
Enrollment Requirement
Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours to receive federal student loan funds.
First-Time Borrowers
First-time student loan borrowers will not receive a loan disbursement until 30 days after the start of their first term.
The start of term is determined by the earliest start date among all scheduled courses. For example, if a student is enrolled in both a 16-week course and a later-starting 8-week course, the 30-day period begins on the start date of the 16-week course.
Single-Term Loans
All single-term loans are disbursed in two installments. This applies to:
- Fall-only loans (for students graduating in Fall)
- Spring-only loans
- Summer loans
The second disbursement is issued after the midpoint of the student's enrollment period.
Bi-Term and Late-Start Courses
Students enrolled in second bi-term or late-start courses may experience delayed disbursements.
If a delay occurs, a hold may be placed on the account to prevent a refund from being generated until all eligible aid has been disbursed.
Refunds
Effective July 1, 2024, paper check refunds are no longer available.
Financial aid refunds cannot be issued until financial aid funds have been disbursed to your account.
Once disbursement occurs:
- Financial aid is applied to your tuition and fees.
- Any remaining eligible funds are processed as a refund.
- Refunds are sent according to your selected BankMobile refund preference.
To avoid delays, set up your refund preference as early as possible.
You can review disbursement activity through Student Self-Service.
Weekly Refund Processing
After the initial refund date, refunds are processed weekly for awards posted before Wednesday and are sent to BankMobile every Thursday morning.
Refund delivery timelines are generally as follows:
