Financial Aid Processing Timelines
The timelines below outline system-wide and Southcentral Kentucky–specific financial aid processing at KCTCS. Processing times can vary based on enrollment period and volume, so please allow the full time frames listed.
KCTCS System‑Wide Time Frames
FAFSA Processing
- KCTCS begins loading FAFSAs and awarding financial aid for a new aid year typically in April.
- Aid offers for an upcoming aid year will not be available before this time.
- For students enrolled in spring-only courses, FAFSA information begins loading on November 1.
- If you make corrections to your FAFSA, updated information is typically received within 3–5 business days.
Verification
- Verification documents should be submitted all at once to avoid processing delays.
- Colleges will not begin processing financial aid until all documents are marked Completed.
- Once verification is complete:
- Allow 5–7 business days for awarding
- Allow 10–15 business days during peak processing periods
Disbursement
- Funds are typically received by your college 4–6 weeks after the semester begins (or after your classes begin, if enrolled in late‑starting courses).
- Once received, funds are applied directly to your account balance within 2 business days.
Southcentral Kentucky–Specific Time Frames
- After all required documentation is submitted to the Financial Aid Office, your file will be updated in Student Self-Service within 1–2 business days.
- Please allow 7–10 business days for processing once your file reflects that all documents have been received.
SAP Appeals
- Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal decisions are communicated within 30 business days after submission.
Summer Financial Aid
- Summer financial aid award processing can take up to 4–6 weeks.
