Can I appeal my SAP status

Federal regulations require students receiving Title IV financial aid to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), even if aid isn't awarded each term. If you're on SAP suspension, you may appeal if extenuating circumstances affected your academic performance.

  2. Click Student Service tile.
  3. Select Tasks.
  4. On your To Do List, click on SAP Appeal OnBase.

If Approved

  • You’ll be placed on SAP Probation.
  • You may need to:
    • Complete a Plan of Action (PLOA) in the Financial Aid Office. A PLOA sets conditions and requirements to continue receiving financial aid for one term.
    • Attend SAP training.

If Denied

  • You won’t be eligible for federal student aid.
  • You can still attend college but must pay for your courses until you meet SAP standards.
  • Appeal decisions are final and can’t be overturned.
  • If you can’t pay tuition, speak with an academic advisor before dropping or withdrawing.

Additional Information

  • Transferring from another KCTCS College? Your appeal can be switched to WKCTC without submitting a new one.
  • Award Processing: Approved appeals are processed promptly after PLOA completion.
  • Previously Approved Appeals: Any changes to your academic program require a new appeal. Other inquiries are handled case by case.
