Can I get back in a course if I was dropped

To avoid being dropped from your courses, please ensure that you make payment arrangements before the deadline.

  • If you set up a payment plan or make any payment on your account, once your financial aid is disbursed the excess aid will be refunded back to you.
  • If you receive financial aid such as grants, scholarships, Work Ready, third-party assistance, or KEES awards, you will not be dropped for non-payment if the college has placed an no cancellation (NOC) hold on your account.
  • If you have any extenuating circumstances or need assistance with payment plans, please contact your local KCTCS College Business Office.
  • If unable to make payment arrangements, you may consider starting your courses in the next available 12-Week or 8-Week sessions for the semester.

Reinstatement Process

Federal student aid can only be disbursed to students attending classes. If you fail to attend a class, MCTC is required to return the portion of funding you received based on your enrollment in that class.

Faculty are responsible for reporting students who do not attend class within the first 10 days of the session. Students in online classes are reported as not attending when the instructor determines the student has not successfully completed an academic related activity during the first 10 days of class.

Only students that were reported in error will be allowed to be enrolled back into the class. If this situation arises, your instructor must contact the Financial Aid Office in writing and request that you be reinstated. If reinstated, aid will again be adjusted based on your enrollment status and eligibility.

If you were dropped for non-payment

In order to be reinstated in the course(s), student will need to contact the business office and/or Financial Aid Office on their home campus to arrange payment or complete the financial aid requirements. The business office or financial aid office will then notify the Registrar's Office for re-instatement. Faculty member for each class must grant permission for a student to be re-enrolled after cancellation.

Students that are reinstated will be assessed a $75 Reinstatement Charge unless the cancellation was an error on the college. Once the re-enrollment fee has been added, the student must contact their advisor for re-enrollment after permission from their instructor is granted.
