JCTC does not offer formal informal extensions on overdue tuition balances; however, you can enroll in the KCTCS Nelnet payment plan (through the payment plan enrollment window each term) or work directly with the Business Office at jf-bursaroffice-main@kctcs.edu for balances not yet in collections. Balances over $100 that remain unpaid are sent to a collection agency.
Formal Options for Overdue Balances
- Enroll in a KCTCS Nelnet Payment Plan (when the enrollment window is open)
- $30 non-refundable enrollment fee per semester.
- Automatic payments via ACH or credit/debit card processed on the 20th of each month.
- Number of payments and required down payment vary depending on when you enroll. Students with more anticipated aid than charges cannot set up a payment plan.
- Contact the Business Office
- Email jf-bursaroffice-main@kctcs.edu as early as possible to discuss your situation.
- Business Office locations: Downtown (JEC Building, 3rd floor) or Southwest (Student Community Building, Room 109).
- Request Removal of Eligible Late Charges
- Late charges ($75) and reinstatement charges ($75) may be removed if you can show they are invalid.
- Email Angie Henes (angie.henes@kctcs.edu) AND Amanda Tindall (amanda.tindall@kctcs.edu) from your student email, describe why the charges are invalid, and include your student ID.
- Work with the Collection Agency (if already sent to collections)
- Balances over $100 will be sent to a collection agency.
- The agency's contact info appears on the collections account hold in Student Self-Service; if none is listed, contact the JCTC Business Office.
What Happens If a Balance Remains Overdue
- A Financial hold and/or No Self-Service Payments (NSS) hold is placed on the account after the payment deadline.
- Classes may be dropped for non-payment.
- Registration for future semesters can be blocked until the balance is resolved.

Additional Information
- If your tuition is paid by an employer, vocational rehab, or other third party, submit documentation to the Bursar's Office by the payment deadline to avoid late fees.
- Act early - the earlier you make arrangements, the more options are available and the less likely you are to be dropped from classes.
