How do I set up my VA benefits? How do I get military dependent/spouse education benefits?

Eligibility for VA educational benefits is determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in St. Louis, Missouri. Forms may be obtained online at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs - Education and Training website.

Students eligible to receive VA educational benefits must submit a copy of their schedule to the Veterans Services Team. Any change in your program or schedule must be promptly reported. The student must provide a copy of the certificate of eligibility to the Veterans Services Team upon enrollment at a KCTCS college.

As the student, it is your responsibility to provide the School Certifying Official (SCO) with all necessary paperwork to certify enrollment to the VA. It is also the student’s responsibility to notify the SCO of any changes to your schedule, whether additions or reductions.

In order for the School Certifying Official to submit your certification to the VA, all students must turn in an Enrollment Request Form with a copy of their class schedule for the semester requested. All forms must be filled out completely in order to be processed. The link to the form is listed below. You may type in the form and then print it out. The form can be sent via email, fax, or mail to the Accessibility Services and Student Affairs Office.

Please also remember that you must notify the School Certifying Official any time you change your schedule. If you add or drop at any time during the semester, please submit a new enrollment form with your changed hours. I hope to make the certification process as smooth as possible for you the student while improving reporting processes to the VA.
