While tuition rates are standard across all KCTCS colleges, additional fees may apply depending on:
- Customized courses
- Services offered by the specific college you attend
There are no application fees when applying to any KCTCS college.
Residency Considerations
If you live in a state bordering Kentucky:
- Review the Contiguous Counties webpage to determine whether your county qualifies for:
- Contiguous rates, or
- A Reciprocity Agreement
Mandatory and Common Fees
BuildSmart Fee
- $8 per credit hour
- Applies to:
- Summer term
- Fall term and beyond
- Funds are used for:
- New facility construction
- Renovation of existing buildings
Distance Learning Course Charge
- $20 per credit hour
- Applies to online courses
- Covers additional costs associated with:
- Technology
- Student support services
BCTC-Specific Fees
- Security Charge
- $40 per semester
- Applies to students taking in-person or hybrid courses
- Professional Liability Insurance
- $11 per semester
- Applies to students enrolled in programs requiring liability coverage
- KNAT Test Charge
- $135
- Applies to students enrolled in NAA100
- NARA Program Charge
- Up to $500
- Applies to students in the North American Racing Academy (NARA) program
- Digital Content Charge
- Applies to select courses
- Cost varies depending on the course
- Late Registration/Reinstatement Charge
- $75
- Applies to students who are unenrolled due to non-payment and request to be reinstated
