Auditing a Course at GCTC
Students who have been admitted to the college may choose to audit a course, allowing them to attend and participate without receiving a grade or academic credit.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Students must be admitted to GCTC
- Students must be officially registered for the course
- Auditing is generally not permitted in selective admissions programs unless:
- The student is admitted to that program
- Space is available in the course
Important Considerations
- Audited courses:
- Do not count toward GPA
- Are not eligible for financial aid
- Students may choose to take the course for credit at a later date
Change of Enrollment Status
Changes between audit and credit status must follow these deadlines:
- Audit to Credit:
- Must be completed by the last date to enter the class
- Credit to Audit:
- Must be completed by midterm of the semester or session
How to Request an Audit
To enroll in a course as an auditor:
- Your academic advisor must email Student Records
- Send the request to: gw-studentrecords@kctcs.edu
- Request a change in grading basis from:
- “Letter grade” to “Audit”
Timing Requirement: This request must be submitted before the class begins or at the time of enrollment if registering late.
