Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Training

Why Do I Have to Take This?

All colleges and universities are required by the federal Violence Against Women Act to offer this type of training to students on an ongoing basis.

  • Participation is not required for students
  • However, it is strongly encouraged

This training helps promote awareness and encourages individuals to recognize their role in preventing gender-based violence both on and off campus.

Is This Required to Graduate?

  • No, participation is not required for graduation
  • Students will not be penalized for choosing not to participate

The training is recommended as it helps students:

  • Recognize signs of abusive relationships
  • Learn how to support themselves or others experiencing harm

Will This Affect My GPA?

  • No, your GPA will not be affected if you do not complete the training
  • Participation remains optional but encouraged

What If the Content Is Triggering?

Although the training content is not graphic, it may still be sensitive for some students.

  • You may opt out of the training at any time
  • For support, resources, or accommodations, contact your college’s Title IX Coordinator
