KCTCS System-wide time frames:
- FAFSA: KCTCS begins loading FAFSAs and the awarding process for a new aid year typically in April. Aid offers for an upcoming aid year won't be made available until after that date. Students enrolled in spring only courses - FAFSA information will be loaded starting November 1. If you have made corrections to your FAFSA, we typically receive the updated FAFSA within 3-5 business days.
- Verification: Verification documents should be submitted all at once to prevent delays in processing. Colleges will not begin processing the aid until all documents are marked as 'Completed'. Once completed, students should allow 5-7 business days; 10-15 business days during peak to be awarded.
- Disbursement: Funds are typically received by your college 4-6 weeks after the semester has begun (or your classes have begun, if you have late-starting classes) to begin the disbursement process. Once received, funds are applied directly to your account balance within 2 days.
Hazard-specific time frames:
It generally takes up to 1-2 business days for your documents to update to your account once they have been received; however, depending on the method used to submit your documents, this may take longer (postal mail).
SAP Appeals: Decisions will be communicated within 10 business days. The Appeals Committee does not have regular meetings, each member reviews the appeal online and will approve/deny the students appeal. Student’s will be notified to their KCTCS email of the Committee’s decision. The Financial Aid Director will notify the student of the decision.
